Next we will visit Incas ruins in Pisac, which we will trek around to get familiar with famous Incan trail and also to get used to trekking on high attitude.

For a dessert there will be short break in Pisac, lunch and trip to hot springs in Lares (around 2.5 hours drive by car). After 4 hours trekking it would be perfect way to relax.

At the end we will drive to Andean village at almost 4000 m. above sea level (around 2 hours drive from Lares) where we will finish the day with dinner and rest. From here we will start whole day trekking the next day.

Day 2. Lares – Patacancha

Day two we wake up at 5:30 am and have breakfast in beautiful Andean scenery. Around 6:30 am we will start trekking together with lamas which, exactly like in Incas time, will carry all our stuff. Host from last night and llama’s owner will join our trip as well. We will take also cook on board, so we can have some delicious meal on the trail.

Arriving in Patacancha Valley we will be finished with hiking around 5:00 pm. We will have around 1.5 hour lunch break. We will spend the night at another Andean village where we will have dinner and good time sleep.

This day we will reach 4500 m. above sea level (the highest point during 3 days).

Trekking time: 9-10 hours
Maximum elevation: 4550 m above sea level
Accommodation at local family house in Andean village

Day 3. Patacancha – Ollantaytambo

After the breakfast, which is planned for 7:00 am, we will do short walk in the village in Patacancha Valley. This is ideal occasion to meet local people. At this time all school kids are going down from the mountains. They look incredible in colorful, traditional clothes. They are focused to be on time at the classes, so it is so nice to look at this picture.

Today there is more history, on the way we will have Incas and PreIncas ruins. We will include them into our trekking which makes it even more interesting.
At the end we will do sightseeing in Ollantaytambo, which despite it is so small, it is the most beautiful town in Cusco region.

After 6:00 pm free time.

Trekking time: 3-4 hours
Maximum elevation: 3700 m above sea level
Accommodation in Ollantaytambo

Day 4. Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu

This day we will be trekking in slightly different climate and scenery.
Today we will move from Andes to the high jungle. For 6 hours we will be walking on the trails including the Inca roads which will take us to Aguas Calientes. From here the following day we will be conquering Incan city, Machu Picchu.

There will be an option to relax in hot springs surrounded by mountains during the trekking.

Trekking time: 5-6 hours
Maximum elevation: 2000 m above sea level
Accommodation in Aguas Calientes

Day 5. Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo

Machu Picchu ruins are the most popular tourist destination in Peru. It is worth to spend there as much time as possible.

Inside Incan city there are many things to see, so this day will be very busy. Apart from visiting main points in the ruins, we recommend also short trekking trips: first to the place called Inti Punku (Sun Gate) where you can see beautiful view on whole ruins. Second trail is the road to Incas bridge, where you have different view, but also incredible. For those more active, we recommend also climbing one of the peaks surrounding Machu Picchu: Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain.

All additional treks mentioned above, you can do during your free time, after sightseeing ruins with local guide.

Trekking time in Machu Picchu ruins depends on number of additional treks in the ruins area (all done during free time) and way to get to ruins: walking up and down 2.5 – 3 hours) or taking bus on this section (1 hour). Ruins sightseeing with local guide will take around 2 – 2.5 hours.

After the visit in the Incas lost city (this is other way to call Machu Picchu) you will come back on your own to Aguas Calientes (instructions will be provided). Going back to Ollantaytambo by train the latest at 6:20 pm and next local bus to Cusco. Arrival in the historical capital of Peru is around 10:15 pm.

Trekking time: 3-8 hours (depending on personal preferences)
Maximum elevation: 3150 m above sea level
