Intensive Spanish course in Cusco Peru

We are happy to introduce you to our new travelling package. This time we will focus on learning the beautiful language of Peru in very unique locations. We won’t skip local, beautiful attractions in this tour, no worries. If you have 3 weeks time, check our offer and combine practical with pleasurable. 50 hours of lessons together with practical exercises with local people in the field. This is an intensive course focusing on practical usage of newly gained knowledge. It will give you the language level which will allow you to travel in Spanish speaking countries without stress and get to know them even better. You won’t miss the best Peruvian attractions with this tour, though. Most of the accommodation is at local Peruvian families homes in selected villages in the Andes or in a private apartment in Cusco. You will have time for lessons with the teacher or even learning to cook local Peruvian meals. All this is to help you to memorize new words and sentences and to get to know better local customs and traditions.

  • Some dinners, lunches: around $150 – $250 USD
    In Peru you can eat lunch or dinner for 8 – 10 sols (local restaurants), sometimes meals can start at 35 sols (tourist restaurants). Dinner or lunch in a better restaurant might cost even 45 sols or more. Everything depends on the place and personal preferences. Coffee price 7 – 8 sols, 1 liter of water 2 – 3 sols.
  • Tips: around $80 USD
    In Peru tips are quite common, especially in tourist business (for drivers, guides, and cooks during trekking trips).
  • Entrance tickets/attractions and optional services: from $50 to $120 USD
    Almost all entrance tickets to local attractions, guide costs, are included in tour price. Some optional attractions might require additional costs like the ones mentioned below:

Additional peak Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, during Machu Picchu visit: $15 USD

During sightseeining at the Inca ruins you can also climb additional peaks surrounding Machu Picchu. You can choose  to trek Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Bus to Machu Picchu ruins – Aguas Calientes (one way): $12 USD

This option provides you two entrances to Machu Picchu in 2 consecutive days. Bus ride up and down is included in the price for the first day. Second day there is only the ride up since there is an option to walk down.

Day 1. Lima – arrival – free time

Arrival in Lima, introductions, and a free day to relax after the long journey. All of us will meet at dinner in the evening.

Day 2. Lima – 5 hrs of Spanish lessons – sightseeing Miraflores and Barranco

Today we will have our first intensive Spanish lesson (5 hours). You will get to know basic words and sentences required for simple conversation. We will cover topics connected with travelling, asking about the road, time and etc.

In the afternoon we will visit the most beautiful parts of Lima

Day 3. Lima – 5 hrs Spanish lessons – visiting city center

Today will be a great culinary and language treat. Second Spanish lesson (5 hours) will allow you to get familiar with basic sentences connected with food, ordering in a restaurant, and culinary overall.

Apart from lessons in the classroom you will get a chance to try out your new knowledge in local restaurants and nearby markets. Today you will try some of the best cuisine in the world. Peruvian cuisine is waiting for you and Lima is a perfect place to learn about it.

Day 4. Lima – Cusco – 5 hr Spanish lesson

In the morning you will fly from Lima to Cusco. Today we will start in slightly different scenery. From the coast you will go to high Andes, the center of the Incan world.

You will get some rest in the afternoon to get proper acclimatization. Next we will review all the new things you have learned so far. Your Spanish lesson (5 hours) will be connected with sightseeing Cusco. Together with the teacher you will buy products for dinner and next you will prepare the meal together at the apartment rented for the group. This is a perfect occasion to practice and learn new things.

Day 5. Cusco – 4 hr Spanish lesson

There will be time for additional hours of learning Spanish connected with practicing in the most interesting parts of Cusco.

You will focus today on cooking (Peruvian lunch and dinner) and visiting small markets where local people buy all their food.

Subject of todays lessons: everything that is connected with the household and also numbers, counting, dates, and negotiating prices.

Day 6. Cusco – 5 hr Spanish lesson

Cusco is a beautiful city, hard not to love. Even those who are not big enthusiasts of the city life are happy to get a chance to get to know the historical capital of Peru. This is the center of the Incan Empire, so the city has a soul and a lot to offer.

You will continue your intensive Spanish course for 5 hours and use the knowledge in the city while sightseeing. Today we will focus on transportation. We will jump on local buses, buy tickets, catch taxis and visit places in Cusco.

You will visit Saqsaywaman ruins, get to know Inca Trail qhapaq ñan and San Blas district.

From now on you won’t have any problems with moving around Spanish speaking countries. Practice will make you better and better and this is our key point during learning each day.

Day 7. Cusco – Santuario de Animales – Pisac – 3 hr Spanish lesson

Todays 3 hour lesson  will focus on knowing words connected with nature. All the things you will learn in the classroom will be used in practice further on. We will get a chance to see condors, vicunas, lampas or alpacas. You will get to know the most common species in the sanctuary where all the animals are being saved from smuggling. This will be a chance to support an organization which not only save those animals, but also has a condors reproduction program.

At the end of visiting the sanctuary, you will see some beautiful landscapes on a trek through the Inca ruins in Pisac. This is a chance to feel the real Andean climate.

Day 8. Ollantaytambo – Patacancha – 2 hr Spanish lesson

We are cooperating with many local communities in the Andes which are happy to host our clients in their houses. You will get a chance to integrate with local people living in the Andes.

We recommend you trip to Patacancha Valley where you will get a chance to meet friendly local people. You will eat breakfast with them and see their daily life. You will also learn to prepare a local dish called Pachamanca. This will give you a chance to get familiar with Peruvian cuisine again.

Today the accommodations will be very basic, in a 4 person room with a shared bathroom. It is also a perfect place to practice Spanish and verify how much you have learned so far.

You will get to know words connected with the house, family, and gardens. We will have a 2 hour lesson before leaving Cusco. Today, you will be the teacher for a bit. In order to better integrate with the local people, you will give a short Polish or English lesson for the kids of the village. You will also learn from them a few words in the Quechua language (the most common language in this area).

Day 9. Patacancha – Coffee plantation – 1 hr Spanish lesson

Today we will mix local experiences with a history lesson. First, in the Andes, and next in the high jungle. We will spend the early morning with local people from Patacancha and we will go on a 3 hour trek to the beautiful Incan town, Ollantaytambo. You will get a chance to visit local ruins here that are surrounded by mountains.

In the afternoon we will go to a coffee plantation in the high jungle. The climate will change drastically to be more humid. You will have a 1 hour Spanish lesson at the plantation where we will focus on coffee production and fruits. Next we will see how coffee is made.

Day 10. Jungle coffee tour to Machu Picchu – 1 hr Spanish lesson

You can reach Machu Picchu in many ways. As a part of this trip we will offer you different trekking options.

After resting in the morning with coffee and breakfast, we will go towards the Inca Trail. It will take us 2.5 hours of trekking and then a little more to the hot springs.

After lunch we will cover an additional 10 km in the high jungle which will take us to Aguas Calientes, the starting point to Machu Picchu. This is where we will explore ruins the next day.

We are not forgetting about your Spanish as well. During the morning coffee we will have an hour lesson.

Day 11. Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu ruins are the most popular destination for anyone visiting Peru. You can see a lot of interesting things inside the Incan town, so this day will be very long and active. Aside from the main route you have two other trekking options. The first is to Inti Punku (Gate of the Sun) from where you can see beautiful views of the whole ruins. The second one is the Inca bridge which is a bit different, but also has great views. For the very active people we have an option to climb one of the peaks located near the ruins, Hyayna Picchu or Machu Picchu.

The trekking mentioned above can also be done during your free time with a guide.

Sightseeing with the guide will take around 2 – 2.5 hours. After this you will have free time while we wait for the train. You will come back on your own to Aguas Calientes (walking or by bus) and then by train to Ollantaytambo. All details will be provided by the guide.

Today we won’t have Spanish lesson, but you can practice along the way!

Day 12. Ollantaytambo – Moray – Salinas- Chinchero – 3 hour Spanish lesson

Trip to Chinchero, Moray, Maras and Salinera de Maras are jewels of the Cusco region. There are a lot of things to see with a great deal of history, culture and tradition. We will start at 7:00 am. After breakfast we will leave towards Cusco at 7:30 am and will visit all these great places on the way

Moray

There are many places in Peru that bring a lot of emotions. Among one of them is the archeological laboratory of Moray. Here there are terraces that look like an amphitheater. These numerous holes in the ground were Incan agricultural laboratories. Based on the construction there is also a theory claiming that it was a ceremonial place as well. This is a must see place.

Maras

This town used to be very famous, but nowadays things have changed. It is still worth it to visit for a while.For example, you can see how the most popular corn beer is being produced – chicha de jora. It is perfect occasion not only to get familiar with this famous drink production details, but also to talk with local people.

Salineras de Maras

From Maras we are not far away from a place which reveals details of salt production. The salt mine located in Salineras de Maras, was built during Inca times, it is a marvelous place. Beautiful mountain scenery, lots of different colors … a real paradise for those who love to experience unfamiliar places. We will walk from Maras to Salineras de Maras, so you can see great view of Coldiriera Urubamba (1 hour trek).

Chinchero

This is picturesque town, located on the way from Cusco to Urubamba. It contains many interesting attractions. What are our options here? Colonial church from XVII century, and more Inca ruins including big field terraces. We will dive into details of textiles production, one of the things this town is famous for. We will meet local women of the community where we will learn how products from alpaca and sheep wool are being made, and how all those beautiful colors can be obtained.

In this part of Peru textiles are only hand made with the products provided by nature and this provides a surprising amount of options. You will see it by yourself. Chinchero is unique not only because of the attractions mentioned above, but also due to the fact that local people preserve Incan traditions.

We will start your next Spanish lesson here. Today we will cover words and sentences connected with clothes, parts of the body, and everything connected with wool production. Local experts in this area will join us for the lesson.

After coming back to Cusco we will have additional 1 hour with Spanish.

In order to see as much as possible and reach places located off the beaten track, we will use private transportation.

Day 13. Cusco – 5 hr Spanish lesson

This is the last day in Cusco. Today it will be a lighter day after intensive learning and sightseeing. We will have a 5 hr lesson where we will focus on shopping, numbers, dates, and price negotiation in a more advanced way. We will get to know words connected with geography as well, since it might be useful during the next few days.

You will have some time to buy gifts and use the knowledge acquired from the course.

Day 14. Cusco – 2 hr Spanish lesson – Rainbow Mountain Palcoyo – Sicuani

Today we will have a 2 hr Spanish lesson in Cusco mixed with trekking in the most colorful part of Andes, the Rainbow Mountains of Palcoyo. This will be the highest point on our trip – 5,000 m. above sea level. It is impressive because of the height and the surrounding landscapes.

Day 15. Sicuani – Llachon at Titicaca Lake

Today we will transfer to Titicaca Lake to Capachica Penisula and rest in the afternoon. Those who would like some more activities will be able to trek to the highest points of the peninsula.

Today there is no Spanish lesson.

Trekking time: 2 – 2.5 hours
Maximum elevation: 4,350 m above sea level
Accommodation: local house in Llachon

Day 16. Capachica Penisula – Amantani Island on Titicaca Lake

Titicaca Lake has many interesting attractions to offer. Most of the tourists go to Puno to see most of them. We focus on uniqueness and local life and that is why we offer you discovering Titicaca Lake from a different side, from the Penisula Capachica area.

You will get experience the peninsula during our trip and also a small island where there are mummies in a museum.

We will visit also Amantani Island where you will spend the night at local family house.

Here you will have 2 hours trekking to the Islands peak to see sunset in the one of the most beautiful places in the world!

We need to start the day very early, around 5:00 am, but it is worth it.

In order to see as much as possible and go to off the beaten track places, we will use private transportation.

This day we will stay at local family house in 4 person room with shared bathroom (basic standard).

No Spanish lesson today.

Trekking time: 2 – 3 hours
Maximum elevation: 4,150 m. above sea level
Accommodation: at a local family house on Amantani Island

Day 17. Ticonata Island – Uros Islands – Puno

Today more time to rest and Amantani Island is a perfect place for that.

After breakfast you will take a boat to one of the Uros Islands and to the mystery Ticonata Island where you will get a chance to get familiar with female mummies, a history from Tiahuanaco times.

Next, by local transportation you will go to Puno.

No Spanish lesson today.

Day 18. Chivay – Colca Canyon – Siabayo

In the morning we will drive to Colca Canyon with stops at a few viewing points (driving time around 6 hours). Next you will visit a local village to get to know the local culture and traditions from this region. During the afternoon and night you will spend time in Sibayo village exploring the area and getting to know the local people.

No Spanish lesson today.

Day 19. Sibayo – Cruz del Condor – Arequipa

Today you will go to Cruz del Condor viewpoint where you will have a chance to see condors in their natural environment. You will rest also in the hot springs and walk through few nearby villages. In the evening you will arrive in Arequipa.

In order to see as much as possible and go to off the beaten track places, we will use private transportation.

No Spanish lesson today.

Day 20. Arequipa – 4 hour Spanish lesson

Sightseeing Arequipa + 4 hour Spanish lesson.

Arequipa is a very interesting city which has a lot to offer. Such as the Cathedral, Saint Katrine Monastery or Juanita Museum, but also trails with petroglyphs, the canyon and quarry where sillar stone is being produced.

Today we will visit Juanita Museum, the city center, and a desert viewpoint were you can see all of Arequipa and its surrounding volcanos. We will arrive here just before sunset. After 6:00 pm you will have time for sightseeing after dark and a local dinner.

We are dividing all the attractions in Arequipa within two days, so you have time for Spanish lessons.

Day 21. Arequipa – Lima – 3 hours Spanish lesson

City sightseeing + 3 hours of Spanish lessons

After the Spanish course and lunch you will go to the trail with petroglyphs, the canyon and quarry (4 hour trip outside the city). These are the most unique places in Arequipa.

In the evening we have a flight to Peru’s capital, Lima.

Day 22. Lima – departure

Depending on flight departure time we might have some time for sightseeing in Lima. We recommend leaving Lima in the evening in order to see a few more attractions. You need to be at the airport around 3 hours before departure and transfer from the city center to the airport takes around 1 to 2 hours. It is worth it to plan the trip, so it does not collide with traffic in Lima.

Get to know Peru end to end with its key attractions during an intensive Spanish course. Experience Peru in local and interesting atmospheres where practical language usage is our focus. If you do not have 3 weeks, let us know. We can prepare for you a 2 week program, with 30 to 40 Spanish lessons integrated.
