Emoliente, the most popular herbal tea in Peru is traditionally served on the streets. The taste is awesome and the price ridiculously low. It is also very practical and healthy, as it makes you warm during the cold evenings in the Andes. Nevertheless, there is more to that! Recently, the first emoliente bar has opened in Cusco, where you can try various types of this amazing beverage and enjoy nice surroundings of the café.
Anyone coming back from Peru should be familiar with the taste of emoliente. Without getting to know this beverage, you cannot fully understand and get the accurate feeling of Peruvian lifestyle. Drinking emoliente is very important daily routine for many Peruvians. They buy it at the small trolleys on the streets and enjoy the taste alone, with their friends or family. Interestingly, Peruvians living abroad claim to miss this beverage the most among all other things they left in the country. I personally admire this drink and highly recommend trying it to anybody coming to Peru!
More information about the beverage itself you can find in one of my other articles. Today, I would only like to touch upon the new opening of a modern emoliente bar in Cusco called Magia Verde Emolienteria. Despite operating only for couple of months, it became a real hot spot! For now, mostly locals visit this place but I am sure it will soon gain popularity also among tourists.
What is so interesting about the place?
First and foremost, excellent emoliente based on carefully chosen ingredients. Among many ingredients you can also find different types of herbal and fruital alcohols that are supposed to help dealing with various afflictions.
Admittedly, the price of emoliente in the above-mentioned bar costs anything between 8 and 12 soles (on the street it is just 1 sol), but It is definitely worth trying! Emolienteria in Cusco also serves other goodies other than herbal teas. Recently, I tried lasagna there and I must admit it was the best lasagna I have ever eaten in my life.
The interior design, in my opinion, is quite sympathetic and stylish!
Herbal teas in Cusco – highly recommended!
I recommend Emolienteria to anyone seeking for something unique or local experience. You will hardly find any bar or restaurant serving more traditional beverages than that one. On top of that, the chef that is preparing the beverage is nation-wide recognized specialist in the field of preparing Emoliente. For anyone going to visit this place, believe me, you will not be disappointed!
Are you planning on coming to Peru? Please do try the local version of Emoliente! Bear in mind however, that trying this beverage might let you deeply fall in love with it at first try.
