Trip to Ausangate region is taking place between 4000 – 5000 m. above sea level. You need to remember that it is much colder here and temperatures during the night drops below zero and between May and August can even drop to -15 degrees. You need to be prepared for a trekking in this area.
1. Small backpack for 2 or 3 days
2. Comfortable trousers (preferably trekking ones), fast drying
3. Long and short sleeve t-shirts – because of the strong sun it is better to have long sleeve
4. Warm polar, the best is with hood
5. Jacket (for example softshell) for cold evenings and nights or light down jacket
6. Night clothes – the best is thermal
7. Hat to save head, hears, neck from the sun
8. Cap, gloves and scarf
9. Swimming suit
10. Rain jacket
11. Sun cream with high UV protector
12. Microfiber towel
13. Flip-flops
14. Comfortable shoes for trekking – the best are the ones stabilizing ankle

Rainbow Mountains Palcoyo
We will start today’s day very early, around 5:00 am. Private transport will take you from the hotel/hostel. We will have 3.5h drive. On the way we will stop for local breakfast, which will allow us to feel real Peruvian climate and afterwards we will visit Rainbow Mountains. On the way there we will see lamas, alpacas and at the end we will reach 5000 m. above sea level to see colorful peaks. It is worth to trek for 1 or 2 hours to see the mountains from different perspective. The views are worth the effort, which is a little bigger due to elevation.
We have surprise for you, so you can enjoy beautiful landscapes even more. In this area we will prepare picnic for you with sandwiches, juice and coffee. There are no better places for meal then unique nature.

Inca bridge Queswachaca
On the way back from Rainbow Mountains we will go towards another attraction. After 1.5 hours drive we will walk Inca trail (part of famous Qhapaqnan roads system) which will take us to Inca’s bridge Qeswachaca. Not only we will marvel it, but also we will try to cross it.
It is big effort nowadays to keep traditions alive. But this is not a problem for local communities from Cusco region, from Quehue district. Four of them meet each year for few days to rebuild this Inca bridge. The secret of the construction is being passed on from generation to generation. It is important that bridge will have the same style and materials, which were used by Inca to construct bridges 500 years ago.
Thanks to this beautiful tradition and thousands people strong will, who takes part in bridge reconstruction, we can marvel at those Incan technologies. New object is being renewed each year and is ready in the second part of the month. You can cross it over Apurimac river for next 12 months. You can read more about this bridge on our blog here.
After the day full of attractions we will drive towards Pacchanta village around 5pm. Driving time will be around 4 hours. Here we will pitch the tents and have a rest before next day. There are hot springs there, so if you like such attractions, there will be a chance to try them out.

Accommodation in a tent in Pacchanta on 4000 m. above sea level or in local house in Tinki village
Snow peaks and lunch around them, alpacas and the highest mountain in the region, Ausangate within the reach. The road is not hard, but there are few uphill sections.
We will start the trip around 6:30 am. We will see in front of us Ausangate peak multiple times. We will cross few small villages and marvel at beautiful landscapes. We will eat also lunch in mountain scenery with the view on Cordillera Vilcanota range.
We will see many lakes along the way which makes surroundings landscapes even more beautiful.
Around 5:00 – 6:00 we will start heading back to Cusco. Arrival time is 20:30 – 21:30 pm.
