Peruvian Hairless Dog officially called as Perro Sin Pelo del Peru is a unique dog originally from Peru. It is also called as the Peruvian Inca Orchid, Pio, Perro Flora (Flower Dog), Moonflower Dog Inca Hairless Dog. Although it is stressed that the Peruvian Hairless Dog is an animal of the Incas, it must be noted that the history of this pet is much longer. Perro Sin Pelo del Peru was very well known to the earlier cultures, such as, among others, Mochica (I AD – VIII AD) and Chimú (IX- XI AD). And how do we know that this breed has existed so early? It is also known that the Peruvian Hairless Dog had a special meaning for Incas. Was treated by the Indians with great respect, to the extent that the buried ruler or important person with their dog. It is also assumed that the Incas believed that Perros sin Pelo del Peru were actually the incarnation of gods.

What differs Peruvian Hairless Dog from others?
As the name suggests – just naked body. These dogs are either completely, or almost completely hairless. Their naked body can at most have a single hair on the head and tail. Peruvian naked dog’s skin is mostly gray, black or dark brown.
